Phillip R. Poovey, CPA

Mr. Poovey holds a degree of Bachelor of Accountancy with Distinction from The George Washington University School of Government and Business Administration.  At George Washington University he was selected by the faculty to receive the Association of Government Accountants Student Honors Award given annually to a highly promising student.  Mr. Poovey is a graduate of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountant’s Leadership Academy and has completed the Dale Carnegie Leadership Course first as a student and later as a teaching assistant.

Phil began his career at the Big Four firm KPMG, where he worked for six and a half years and reached the level of Audit Manager prior to leaving to join one of his clients as Controller and later Chief Financial Officer.  Phil’s experience also includes three years in Tarpley & Underwood, P.C.’s Audit and Attestation practice as an Audit Manager and one year as Principal of Poovey & Associates, P.C. prior to joining Bridges & Dunn-Rankin, LLP to lead the firm’s Accounting and Attestation practice.

Phil has extensive experience in providing accounting and attestation services for both privately held and publicly-traded companies in the technology, distribution, manufacturing, retail, real estate, construction and professional services industries.  Phil’s background also includes providing businesses with due diligence assistance in connection with mergers and acquisitions.  In addition to traditional public accounting services, Phil’s background as a Chief Financial Officer enables him to serve clients in a CFO capacity assisting with such areas as monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, management reporting, incentive compensation system design, risk management, software selection and implementation, project management, credit management, and the design and implementation of business processes.

Professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.  Phil, his wife Lauren, and two daughters are members of Stonecreek Church in Alpharetta and live in Canton.
